Inclination to show disdain for those who share opposite or opposing views than oneself
Although the season of the year had recently moved from summer into autumn, a warm southern breeze still permeated the air. Laurie Kozlowski sat in the passenger’s seat of her father’s car, breathing in the fresh smells that blew through the open windows. Classes were out for the day as the annual parent/teacher conferences were being held this weekend. Her father, Paul, would be meeting with her middle school’s teachers tomorrow and the two had decided to take advantage of the break by spending the day together. Laurie began to fidget with the radio dial as she waited for her father to come out of the dollar store.
“Welcome back to the 24-hour Marathon of The Leon Joneway Show; this is your host, Leon Joneway. This hour’s broadcast is brought to you by Athena’s Pizzeria. ‘The highest quality ingredients for the lowest prices… Athena’s Pizzeria. It’s the wise choice.’ And as we move into the noon hour of our marathon, I must admit that I’ve been enjoying a couple of slices from Athena’s. How about you, Gordy?”
“Oh yeah. It’s the best.”
“I couldn’t agree more. Now, personally, I’m partial to a good ole slice of pepperoni. I tell ya, it’s hard to go wrong with pepperoni. What about you, Gordy?”
“I’m a fan of green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and olives.”
