Fixation

Fixation – (fifik-sey-shuhn)
Extreme level of focus or obsession on a person, object or idea

High heels in hand, Brittany’s legs pumped in unceremonious fashion as she made her way down the broken sidewalk, dodging the jagged and uneven pavement that had been lifted into a jumble of unnatural obstacles by roots many decades old. Normally her athletic training would have allowed her to endure the strain, but the infusion of adrenaline and concern put her body into a state of uncomfortable distress. Her reactions were comprised of both fear and compassion. She was running from 103 Hort Street. Just a few moments ago her sorority sister had sent her a message.

Amanda T.: Been txting and calling for an hour. @ corner of Wilber and Steight. It’s an emergency!

Brittany’s sprint slowed down to a saunter as she approached the group of smokers outside of her destination.

“You guys seen Amanda?” she asked, slightly panting.

“Who?”

“Nevermind.” Brittany moved away, opening the gate into the backyard. “Amanda!”

“There, you are!” Amanda walked away from a small campfire.

“Are you alright? What’s going on?”

“I’ve been texting and calling you forever. We have that show to see.”

“Show?”
