Promiscuity – (prom-i-skyoo-i-tee)
Participating in sexual relations with multiple partners either casually or indiscriminately
Just south of the Princemoore University campus sat a neighborhood comprised mainly of student rentals along with a scattering of family homes and blighted properties. When its prominent namesake family first founded the university, the adjacent neighborhood was built to house the faculty and staff. The proximity provided a short commute for the university’s employees as cars were a rarity at the time of its founding in the early 20th century. As the university grew in size and transportation allowed for faster travel times, the staff slowly began moving to other parts of the city, and the neighborhood began the transformation into its current incarnation. On the books the neighborhood was called University Heights. But the school’s students referred to it by its better-known name, Drunken Acres.
Fridays and Saturdays were Drunken Acres’ most active of nights, and this Friday was no different. School had been in session for just over a month or so and midterms were far from the minds of most of the students. Instead, former freshmen were now making their sophomore rounds, having returned to school with greater confidence and curiosity than the previous year. Although not specifically barred from Drunken Acres, there was an unspoken rule that freshmen were to indulge in their illicit activities either in the dorms or at the University Mall. For the most part, this rule was followed, but as with any unofficial social contract, exceptions were occasionally made.
